Chatbots, customer experience & calamity stories at UX Bournemouth 4

With winter fast approaching it was time for the fourth UX Bournemouth –attracting an array of UXers and digital professionals from our local area and further afield.

We had another stellar line-up of speakers, with talks from Alan Colville, Adam Babajee-Pycroft and Ulrich Boulon. They took us on a journey of ever improving your processes; whether it be running remote usability testing, remembering to test the desktop version of your chatbot, or always striving to ‘take it up a notch’ with everything you do.

Three Steps to consistent connected, cross channel customer experience – Alan Colville

UX Bournemouth was kicked off by Alan urging us unleash the business changing power of UX by embracing a bit of ‘UX Swagger’! He demonstrated how he had evolved his deliverables such as user personas and user journeys, to make them better, keep them fresh and ensure they have an impact in the boardroom.

Moderated remote user research, best of both worlds – Adam Babajee-Pycroft

Adam took us on his journey from being a sceptic of moderated remote user research to embracing it and utilising it to reach users he normally wouldn’t have been able to test. He showed that there are now a number of tools available to be able to complete moderated usability testing. A key learning point Adam shared was always test your tests and your tech!

Chatbot, Digital’s New Evolution – Ulrich Boulon

Ulrich completed the evening by talking us through the fascinating digital process of designing a chatbot at Burberry. A privileged glimpse behind the scenes to show how Burberry used Facebook Messenger to create a tailored experience for their customers. Understanding that it goes beyond the basic usability of the chatbot; to engage with their audience and keep them coming back they had to tell a story.

Our next event

Don’t forget to see what the UX community thought of our latest event by taking a look at Twitter (#uxbournemouth). The lucky winner of our book giveaway, kindly sponsored by Rosenfield Media, was Sam Harvey with this inspiring tweet…

Our next UX Bournemouth will be on 6 March – get your tickets early to ensure you don’t miss out. We’d also love to hear from you if you’d like to speak at one of our UX Bournemouth events.
